But I’m feeling like my outside appearance doesn’t match up to what I’m feeling on the inside. I’m not one to be real “fixy”, but today I’m making a drastic change to my hair that should be more representative of who I am inside.

I think that’s probably backwards from most people. It’s probably more common for us to put on a happy exterior and be sad or empty inside so I’m kinda weird that way. I want to reflect that I’m a cheerful follower of Christ.

I suppose a smile can really say it all, huh!

This morning I woke up realizing that although I have many sins in my life, I have one that is especially shameful to me. When I get angry or hurt, I say words I wish I wouldn’t. It’s hard for me to admit, sometimes I think or even say swear words when I’m mad. I hate it and I’m going to change it … today! Here are the three steps I’m going to take.

1) Admit my sin

2) Ask for forgiveness

3) Be purposeful and prayerful about changing my mind and heart.

Have you had a sin in your life that you’ve overcome through prayer? Would love to know your story! You will give us hope that we can overcome the sin in our lives.

My husband’s sister and husband, who are from Texas, have just adopted 3-sisters ages 14, 11 and 7. We have not yet met our new nieces in person and think that this would be a great way for our families to get together and spend some “family” time getting to know each other. Since we are from Iowa and they are from Texas, and realizing that everyone is busy, it would be nice just to get away and enjoy God’s creation together. We know that these girls have never been able to experience anything like this before. They will officially become part of our family at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 26 as they go before the judge. We really feel that this would be a great bonding time for our whole family as they have just received the gift of a forever family. We also have 4 girls and listen to 96.5 daily in our home, vehicles and at work. Please prayerfully consider our entry. We would be very appreciative to make this work as a gift to them.

UNDATED (FR) – Most Americans describe Easter as a religious holiday, but a Barna group survey finds that less than half of U. S. adults connect it to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Seven in ten mentioned religion or spirituality when asked what Easter means to them personally, But only 42% of the 1000 adults mentioned the resurrection. 73% of those ages 45 to 63 were the most likely to describe Easter as a religious holiday compared to two thirds — ages 26 to 44. 18 to 25 year olds were the least likely to mention a religious emphasis for Easter. Barna group president David Kinneman says the Easter holiday still has a distinct religious connection to people but the Biblical explanation of Easter is really fading in allot of people’s minds.

6 red leaf lettuce leaves

6 (1/4-inch-thick) large tomato slices

6 paper-thin red onion slices, separated into rings

6 basil sprigs, for serving

Pesto Mayonnaise

2/3 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons prepared basil pesto

Preparation

1. Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high.

2. To make the mayonnaise, combine the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate until needed.

3. To make the patties, combine the sirloin, Zinfandel, basil, onion, bread crumbs, sun-dried tomatoes, and garlic salt in a large bowl. Handling the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties to fit the rolls.

4. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Toss the moistened basil sprigs directly onto the fire. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done to preference, 5 to 7 minutes on each side for medium. During the last few minutes of cooking, place the rolls, cut side down, on the outer edges of the rack to toast lightly. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a cheese slice.

5. To assemble the burgers, spread the mayonnaise over the cut sides of the rolls. On each roll bottom, place a lettuce leaf, a patty, a tomato slice, an onion slice, and a basil sprig. Add the roll tops and serve.
