Some Broccoli Pie?!

Last week, we asked you on facebook what your absolute favorite was when it came to the important holiday subject of pie. I was honestly surprised by some of the exotic responses we got. Some of those things I’d never considered putting in a pie! Granted, I would almost never consider putting anything in a pie and baking it myself because I’m almost certain I would somehow destroy it. But that’s not my point!

I found the website justpierecipes.com this morning. These folks have over 3,500 different recipes for pies that you can browse and use! I don’t how it’s possible, but it is. Concoctions include date, gooseberry, cheese, broccoli, and tomato pie. Who comes up with this stuff?!

So here you go! Browse Away! And after you finish baking, don’t forget to bring us some at the KNWC studios.

Well, you don’t have to do that last part :) .

Thanksgiving

From President Lincoln’s proclamation of Thanksgiving as a national holiday on October 3rd, 1863…

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.

And later in the document…

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the most high God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojurning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.
