Free is a good thing… when something free also sounds cool and has a great message you’re in a definite win-win situation!

Such is the case with 10 Avenue North this Christmas Season! They’re offering you a chance to simply go to their website and download a free version of their new take on the Christmas song “Go Tell It on the Mountain”.

TobyMac has been touring across the fruited plain with Relient K and other folks on his WinterWonderSlam concert experience. It’s a lot of Toby’s regular hip hop, rock, pop (regular is a relative term, yes?!) with a holiday flair. Jesusfreakhideout has a concert review posted that details the entire set and also includes pictures!

It includes interesting notes on Charlie Brown & Toby doing some old school DC Talk songs at the show.

Renowned worship leader & music artist David Crowder recently spoke with jesusfreakhideout.com aboot his newest album, Church Music. Perhaps the most interesting revelation in the alternately humorous and sincere interview comes if you scroll almost to the end of the story. The interviewer asks the hairy gentleman about his favorite Nintendo game and it comes out that Crowder & band used sound effects from the original Mario Brother’s game and Duckhunt on the original Nintendo system!!!

Says Crowder:

Well, I think we spent too many days in front of the TV at friends’ houses trying to save the Princess.” It affected us.

Last week, we asked you on facebook what your absolute favorite was when it came to the important holiday subject of pie. I was honestly surprised by some of the exotic responses we got. Some of those things I’d never considered putting in a pie! Granted, I would almost never consider putting anything in a pie and baking it myself because I’m almost certain I would somehow destroy it. But that’s not my point!

I found the website justpierecipes.com this morning. These folks have over 3,500 different recipes for pies that you can browse and use! I don’t how it’s possible, but it is. Concoctions include date, gooseberry, cheese, broccoli, and tomato pie. Who comes up with this stuff?!

So here you go! Browse Away! And after you finish baking, don’t forget to bring us some at the KNWC studios.

Well, you don’t have to do that last part :) .

From President Lincoln’s proclamation of Thanksgiving as a national holiday on October 3rd, 1863…

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.

And later in the document…

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the most high God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojurning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.

You might recognize John Waller as the artist behind “While I’m Waiting”, which became a big hit when it was featured on the Fireproof movie soundtrack. He keeps up with his fans and keeps a running commentary of his life on his Twitter feed! Just recently he’s detailed his family attending a Barlow Girl concert and his travels to Niagra Falls.

From CCM Magazine’s News and Views:

With 17 chart topping singles and three gold albums, Jeremy Camp is steadily becoming one of the most familiar faces and voices in Christian music. He turns in a brand new project November 17 chronicling that entire history thus far with Live, featuring fourteen tunes recorded last year throughout a variety of tour stops. Though the track listing is tentative at this point, an initial reading includes “Capture Me,” “Tonight,” “Walk By Faith,” “Lay Down My Pride” and “Right Here.”

Should be pretty epic! We got to see a lot of Jeremy this year in the Empire – did you catch him at Risefest in June in Orange City orĀ  at his concert here in Sioux Falls in February? Or both?!

Keep up the good work (and spikey hair) big guy!
