Life 96.5 and Restoration Church of Sioux Falls invite you to be the hands and feet of Jesus this Thanksgiving by blessing families in need with a Thank-FULL Thanksgiving!
Restoration Church is providing 150 turkeys with a challenge for Life 96.5 listeners to provide a box or basket-full of the remaining grocery items needed to create a Thanksgiving meal that would feed a family of 6.
Items to be provided would be non-perishable and could be used to create several dishes that would accompany the turkey. Things like canned vegetables, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a box of stuffing mix would be wonderful. Choose a box or basket and fill it with the suggested items on our list, or come up with your own list, maybe based on the unique dishes you prepare for your own holiday meal (just be sure to include any special recipes!). Then bring your box of food items to Restoration Church (2601 S. Marion Road, (605)271-5357) between November 15 and 19, from 6-8pm.
The church will add the turkey (gift certificate) and deliver your box on Saturday, November 20th! If you would like to help a family with one or more dinners, please let us know by registering here. Once we have 150 meals, we will close the registration.
Another opportunity to be a blessing is to nominate a family in need to receive A Life 96.5 Thank-FULL Thanksgiving! If you know someone who would love to receive the makings for a dinner, you can nominate them here. We will accept up to 150 nominations. The recipients will be contacted by phone and delivery will be arranged for Saturday, November 20th.

For those with eyes to see, this week’s rescue of 33 trapped miners is almost like a biblical parable brought to life.
Media around the world captured the images for the whole world to watch. Men trapped in darkness. Hopeless. The future was bleak with no way out. Death, the end of life, was imminent.
But then, a way. One way. The only way out and it led to life!
The men were found. From outside, a plan was made, and then set into motion. The rescuers began to make their way to the lost miners. And as the light came down to them from above, rejoicing! A rescuer came down to them. They received him and accepted the way that was made for them. One by one, they were lifted from darkness into the light. From death into life.
Never before in my life have I seen God’s rescue story so clearly played out before the world in events on earth as it was this past week when the 33 Chilean miners were rescued from their aptly called “tomb”. Never before have so many watched as such a unique and costly solution was created for such a unique and costly problem. Tragedy became triumph. It seemed to me a story very much like God’s own, so clearly and publicly represented for all to see. The story of mankind, hopeless trapped in darkness, there by our own doing. No way out, no saving ourselves, no returning to life apart from a rescue, a miraculous intervention. And then God, in his mercy, set out to make a way. The barrier, our separation from Him, was crushed and the way was opened up by the sacrifice of his only son, Jesus Christ. God desires to lift each of us from death into life. He has made the way, but the next step is ours to take.
The miners knew the way to life—only one way—and each was given the choice to take the step into freedom. Complete trust in their rescuers allowed them to submit to the process that brought them into life. It was nothing they did, but to accept the way that was provided.
God has made His story clear to us, the world. He stands ready to lift us from the dark, hopeless place of death into his amazing place of light and life. And the next step is ours.
